Ahunan Power, incorporated on September 2020, is developing the Pakil Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Project in Laguna, which will have a generating output capacity of 1,400 megawatts.
With a project investment of USD 5.03 billion, the Pakil project is expected to be among the largest pumped storage hydroelectric power plants in Asia. Its capacity and reliability make Ahunan Power a crucial player in the Philippines’ efforts to transition to a clean energy future.
The project integrates variable renewable energy to provide mid-merit energy during peak periods and address ancillary services requirements of the national system grid. Its total annual generation capacity is estimated to supply over 2.3 million households and displace approximately 3.1 million tons of coal per year. It is expected to commence operations by 2030.
Ahunan Power’s project was certified as an Energy Project of National Significance by the Department of Energy and received Green Lane endorsement from the Department of Trade and Industry and Board of Investments.
